Harvey Cedars
A small community south of Loveladies with a history of its own. Being one of the narrowest parts of the Island; you are close to bay and ocean no matter where you live. Tree stands in the tall cedars once served as lookouts for whalers until a 30’ tower was built to spot whales above the tall dunes. Little cottages were built for the hearty pound fishermen and larger camps built for the gentlemen sporting [fishing & duck hunting]. A couple of them survive today, but the town has blossomed and the homes continue to get larger. The town features Neptune Market & Deli, liquor store, some fine dining at Black Eyed Susans & the Plantation plus casual take-out at Harvey Cedars Shellfish. Ice cream and sundries for beach, bay & fishing are also available. The lifeguarded beaches also include the children’s bay beach at W. 75th Street. Tennis, bocce, running track, pick-up softball field, fishing dock extending into the bay and children’s playground are found at Sunset Park. The park is also host to weekly summer concerts and events. There is a designated “surfing beach” across from the park at Hudson Avenue. Streets run bay to ocean and around lagoons. Walking to the beach and bay is no problem. Listings and sales generated in this area prove to be a good financial and personal investment. Vacation rentals include cottages, duplexes, raised ranches and large 4-5 bedroom contemporaries. Prices are based on location and amenities. Let one of our agents expand on this for you.
